kundalini yoga and the power of small actions

Our consciousness should not be theoretical nor bound to any specific context such as a yoga class, a church, a philosophy, or any limiting physical, mental, or otherwise context.

I was walking down my street, and there was a big Amazon box with all its plastic wrappings and plastic protections slowly being blown by the wind. It looked dirty and made the street look dirty and messy. My first reaction was to pass by. I was already mentally complaining and criticizing the person who did this. This person should come back and pick up this mess! – I thought. Of course, my righteousness popped up and I thought I would never do this.

But then, a phrase by Denzel Washington in The Equalizer 2 came to my mind:

Anybody could do it but nobody does.
It ends up with everybody complaining
because nobody did what anybody could have done or should have done; while the task remains undone.
It made me stop.

? Indeed, I would never do it, but by passing by and ignoring it, am I not participating, even if passively, in the action? Ignoring the box is missing an opportunity to make the street look clean again. So, I picked it up.

We can’t pick up all the boxes incorrectly placed, nor can we save all the people begging on the street. Nor feed all the children or give respectful and fulfilling elderly years to all elders. But passing by makes us accomplices; passing by makes us part of the problem. We can ALWAYS DO SOMETHING, so let us do it!

Consciousness is a noun, but it should be a verb, an action.

The practice of Kundalini Yoga is precisely about this. Kundalini can play a vital role in fostering the consciousness and action needed to make a positive impact. Kundalini Yoga emphasizes the awakening of spiritual energy, mindfulness, and intentional living. By regularly engaging in practices that elevate our awareness and connect us to our higher selves, we empower ourselves to notice the “boxes” in our lives and take deliberate actions to address them. Through the balance and clarity gained from Kundalini Yoga, we can transform our heightened consciousness into meaningful deeds that contribute towards making the world a cleaner, kinder, and more harmonious place.

I am not here to preach; I have passed by too many “boxes” to do that. I just wanted to share my thoughts with you and see if we can incorporate this idea into the week that begins tomorrow. Let us try to do always something to make this world a better place, for the simple reason that we can. And if we all did something…
